Thursday's Iota Pi Alumni Night left standing room only!  HRAC had nine brothers in attendance as well as a few recent local Iota Pi graduates that are considering joining the alumni chapter.

Alumni Night is a part of the CNU chapter's rush week where potential new members have an opportunity to speak with older members of the organization and learn how being a brother in AKPsi has benefited them.  This year, the event was set up similar to a large speed dating activity.  Rushees were positioned at one of five large tables with current and alumni brothers.  After a few moments, the rushees were asked to rotate to the next table -allowing them an opportunity to speak with many people throughout the evening.

After the event, the Hampton Roads Alumni Chapter surprised current Iota Pi members with reserved tables and pizza at Brickhouse Tavern in Port Warwick.  Both Alumni Night and the Brickhouse gathering were very successful.  We look forward to continue strengthening our bond with the Iota Pi chapter this year.

On February 21, brothers traveled to Atlanta, GA to participate in the Principled Business Leadership Institute (PBLI) events.  Three brothers from the Hampton Roads Alumni Chapter attended:  Jody South, Zach Grohler, and Shelly Rossi.  Travelling along with our alumni brothers were other local student brothers and a few alumni from the Washington DC area.

Activities taking place during the event included a case competition, multiple education sessions with speakers, an awards ceremony, an alumni gathering, and various networking opportunities.  Overall, it was an excellent experience for all in attendance, and as brother, Jody South, stated, "The trip to Atlanta renewed our bond as brothers."  

Brothers gathered at The Cove at Oyster Point City Center in Newport News for Happy Hour -the first of many upcoming "Social Seconds" brotherhood activities.  Social Seconds provides a social outlet for brothers to get to know each other a little better.  This is also a great opportunity for prospective members to join us and learn about the alumni chapter.

The Happy Hour event at The Cove fell on the same weekend as Christopher Newport University's homecoming.  Many Iota Pi alumni joined us at the event since they were in the area.

HRAC brothers joined Iota Pi Chapter during Court of Honor and Induction this month at Christopher Newport University.  The brothers of Iota Pi inducted 21 new brothers into their chapter.  Iota Pi congratulated their new brothers by taking them to the Hampton Roads Alumni Chapter fundraiser being held that night at Chili's.  The fundraiser raised money for Relay for Life.  You can join our Relay for Life team, or make a donation at: HRAC Relay for Life.  More photos of the Chili's event can be found on our Photos Page.  

The Hampton Roads Alumni Chapter of Alpha Kappa Psi was represented at the 2013 Principled Business Leadership Institute (PBLI) in Atlanta Georgia this weekend (Feb. 22nd-24th 2013).  PBLI offers individuals a weekend convention focusing on professional skill building at the individual level, while allowing for the opportunity to network with other chapters and business professionals. Attendees participated in a curriculum centered on the values of principled business leadership and the values of AKPsi—brotherhood, unity, integrity, service, and knowledge. 

Alumni brothers attend Court of Honor at Christopher Newport University today and reaffirmed their oath of brotherhood.  Afterwards, HRAC brothers joined the student chapter for dinner and drinks.

Several members of the Hampton Roads Alumni Chapter of Alpha Kappa Psi attended the 40th anniversary of Iota Pi chapter at Smoke Restaurant in Newport News, VA on Friday, November 2nd, 2012.  The group had a great time and is looking forward to future events with the chapter.   Pictures can be found in the Photos section of the website.
